Tour Highlights
Itinerary
Day 1: Devonport or Launceston to Bicheno
Travelling northeast of Launceston, we stop at the sweetly fragranced, rolling purple hills of the Bridestowe Estate Lavender Farm (seasonal, Dec-Feb). Continuing through the changing landscape of heritage farms, forests and mining towns we spend the afternoon at the breathtaking Bay of Fires, where you can take a stroll along the gleaming white sands or a swim in the clear turquoise water if the weather’s good. We stay overnight in the seaside township of Bicheno. After dinner, you can choose to take a local guided tour to see fairy penguins nesting (at own expense). (LD)
Day 2: Bicheno to Port Arthur
Hike stunning Freycinet National Park for sweeping views of Wineglass Bay and beyond. You may choose to trek on to Wineglass Beach from the lookout or for those more adventurous; a climb to the top of Mount Amos. Travelling south to Port Arthur, we’ll stop to enjoy a rainforest walk along the way. Tonight, take the spine chilling Port Arthur Ghost Tour for a glimpse into Australia's convict past (own expense). We stay the night at Port Arthur. (BLD)
Day 3: Port Arthur to Hobart
We’ll spend this morning exploring the Port Arthur Historic Site and take a boat cruise around the harbour. Next, we visit Remarkable Cave and a range of other spectacular coastal sites on the Tasman Peninsula on our way to Hobart. (BL)
