And in the middle of this scorched region, over a thousand kilometres away\u00a0from any capital city, you&#8217;ll find majestic <strong><a href=\"\/uluru\">Uluru<\/a>.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Exploring Uluru has been described as the <strong><a href=\"\/australia-outback-yarns\/uluru-ultimate-australian-pilgrimage\/\">ultimate Australian pilgrimage<\/a>.<\/strong>\u00a0Sacred to Indigenous people, Uluru and its surrounds \u2013 Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park \u2013 have been home to the Anangu people for almost 30,000 years.<\/p>\n<p>And now, thanks to the magic (and technological advances) of Google Street View, the\u00a0park can be experienced virtually:<\/p>\n<p><iframe src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/Yocf-lFF49g\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Created with the help of Google&#8217;s Story Sphere platform, the 360-degree panoramic footage is taken from the perspective of a walker exploring the sacred land by foot.<\/p>\n<p>The virtual walk, which is guided by Anangu traditional owners, includes nine sites labelled under \u2018Watering Hole\u2019, \u2018Uluru View\u2019, and \u2018Kata Tjuta View\u2019. According to Google, it took two years working with the Anangu traditional owners, Northern Territory government and Parks Australia to produce.<\/p>\n<p>To capture the footage, a Google Street View trekker walked the perimeter carrying a 15-lens camera in her backpack. The result is a multi-dimensional viewing experience.
