PICK UP: Desert Gardens Hotel. See "Joinng Point Instructions" for pick up times

The Outback. The Red Centre. Down Under. The Never Never. Australia’s rugged, rust-cloaked centre has gained itself a fair few monikers over the years, but you really need to travel in the region to appreciate its size and scenery. Following an early afternoon pick-up, we set out across the stark, dramatic terrain of central Australia. The Territory’ can be a pretty unforgiving place and, in cruising through this landscape, you’ll quickly understand how and why it became so engrained in the Australian psyche. Many early pioneers brought camels over to help them traverse what was then one great big unknown. Today you’ll have the opportunity to see Australia just how they would’ve. Our first stop for the day is Kings Creek Station, an authentic outback station. By late afternoon we will have arrived at our night’s secluded campsite located not far from Kings Canyon.

Note: *Pick up times vary at different times of the year as flight schedules change. Please confirm your meeting time and location with our Reservations team. Total driving time is around three and a half hours.

It’s a 6 km walk around King’s Canyon (a route known as the Rim Walk), so it’s a pretty early start today. We set out after breakfast, before the day gets too hot. Learning from your guide about the area’s flora and fauna as you go, you’ll enter upon the Lost City – a solitary expanse peopled by craggy sandstone domes – then hike up the surrounding ridges for expansive views along the north and South Walls. The descent down into the Garden of Eden is pretty steep in parts, but well worth the effort. Getting back on the road, we’ll drive past the flat-topped rise of Atila (Mt. Conner) and the Curtin Springs Station Roadhouse before arriving at Kata Tjuta. We’ll spend some time here wandering around the site’s red rock domes on a guided walk, then finish the day toasting the outback’s famous Uluru sunset.

Total driving time today is about three and a half hours.
