As we get back on the road, we want to ensure our trips remain safe for everyone — for our travellers, our staff and the people we visit along the way.

We’re following recommendations from the World Health Organization and the World Travel & Tourism Council’s (WTTC) Safe Travel protocols for tour operators. All our itineraries undergo a comprehensive risk assessment and audit, with our guides and suppliers completing COVID-19 health and safety training.

Vaccination and Testing Policy

As you look to get back on the road with Adventure Tours Australia, we’ll continue to ensure our trips are safe for everyone. That includes our travellers, our staff and the people we visit along the way.

 

Proof of COVID-19 vaccination policy from 1 December 2021 onwards

Travellers are required to produce proof of COVID-19 vaccinations on all of our trips.

If you are unable to be vaccinated for medical reasons, you may apply for an exemption. Exemptions will be assessed on a case-by-case basis. To apply, you must provide a medical certificate from a medical professional. 

Children under 18 are exempt. Children aged between 5 and 17 years old must provide proof of either vaccination, recovery or a negative COVID-19 test. Please see the below section on children for further details.

From 1 December 2021, everyone travelling on an ATA trip must be vaccinated against COVID-19 as a condition of carriage. 

All travellers are required to produce:

  • Proof of COVID-19 vaccination
  • All children 5 and above must provide proof of vaccination, proof of recovery or a negative COVID-19 test.
  • If you are unable to be vaccinated for medical reasons, you may apply for an exemption. Exemptions will be assessed on a case-by-case basis. To apply, you must provide a medical certificate from a medical professional. 

In all cases, you must be fully inoculated. This means you must receive the full dosage of the COVID-19 vaccine and allow enough time for immunity to take effect. Each COVID-19 vaccine has different dosages and timeframes for inoculation, so please check the relevant medical advice associated with your vaccine.

 

Children between 5 and 17 years of age are exempt from the mandatory vaccination policy. 

 In order to join an ATA trip, they must provide:

  • Proof of vaccination status (for children who are eligible); or
  • Proof of a negative COVID-19 test conducted no more than 72 hours before day 1 of your trip; or
  • Proof of recovery from COVID-19 (a medical clearance certificate from a medical professional)  

Children aged 4 years and under are not required to provide any documentation to travel with ATA. 

We recognise any vaccine that has been authorised for use by the Australian Government for COVID-19. This includes well known vaccines such as Oxford AstraZeneca, Pfizer-BioNtech and Moderna.

A copy of your vaccination record (either paper or digital) is required. 

For example,

  • Medicare digital vaccination certificate (AU travellers)
  • an NHS card with batch number (UK travellers)
  • CDC vaccination record (USA travellers) 
  • EU Digital COVID Pass (EU travellers)

You will be required to present this proof on the morning of departure. We reserve the right to refuse boarding onto our tours without the correct proof.

 

Travellers planning to use proof of vaccination to join an ATA trip must be fully inoculated. This means you must receive the full dosage of the COVID-19 vaccine and allow enough time for immunity to take effect.

Each COVID-19 vaccine has different dosages and timeframes for inoculation, so please check the relevant medical advice associated with your vaccine.  

We will not accept travellers on trips who have received only a partial dose (for example, one part of a two-dose vaccination) of a vaccine.

Travellers who booked prior to the change of policy:

If you have booked a trip prior to the announcement of the change of policy, we can provide you with alternative options, which can include a credit, transferring credit to friends or family or a full refund. The change of policy was announced on 1 December 2021. Please get in contact with our Sales Team to find out about the options available.

Travellers who booked after the change of policy:

If you’re not vaccinated and you book a trip after the announcement of the change of policy and want to cancel, Clause 5 of our Booking Conditions – 5. Cancellation by you – apply.

If you are unable to be vaccinated for medical reasons, you may apply for an exemption. Exemptions will be assessed on a case-by-case basis. To apply, you must provide a medical certificate from a medical professional. 

Please note that those with a medical exemption are still required to produce proof of a negative test conducted no more than 72 hours before day 1 of their trip.
