Like it or not, in an age of smartphones and most people being fairly active on social media, the importance of getting the perfect holiday snap to induce envy in your loved ones back home has hit a peak.
In the Land Down Under there are some pretty spectacular natural wonders that are just perfect to spice up your travel ‘gram game, with everything from scorching red desert landscapes to turquoise oceans.
So, to help you ensure your feed is nothing short of excellent on your next Aussie adventure, here are 10 of Australia’s most Instagrammable natural wonders that you should check out.
1. The Pink Lakes, Victoria

One of the most striking, yet lesser-known beauties in the southern state of Victoria is the Pink Lakes in Murray-Sunset National Park. The vibrant waters get their hue from the combination of red algae and high salt content. The brightness of the pink varies depending on rainfall, so at different times of year you can be treated to anything from a very pale pink to something you definitely won’t need a filter for.
See the lakes on our 4-day Kangaroo Island and the Great Ocean Road trip.

Depending on whether you view the iconic rock at sunrise, sunset or during the heat of the day (yep, it’s never really cold in the Red Centre), you’ll need to have the cameras ready so you don’t miss getting the perfect photo of this spectacular sight. With changing colours depending on weather and time of day and just general spectacular-ness, a snap of Uluru is a must.

3. Whitehaven Beach, Queensland

An Insta-worthy tour of Oz must include a trip to the iconic Whitsundays. Australia’s most famous beach, Whitehaven Beach, consistently polls in ‘world’s best beaches’ countdown lists for good reason. This long stretch of sand is finer than powder and contrasts beautifully with the beyond-turquoise water. Cliche, yes? But who cares!

4. The 12 Apostles, Victoria

A road trip down the coastal Great Ocean Road is a classic Aussie holiday, so jump in one of our comfy vans and let us take you to see the 12 Apostles. While there might only be nine of these remarkable rock formations left, it’s still worth the drive to take some snaps. Don’t forget to also check out nearby Loch Ard Gorge – the scenery at both sites is unbeatable.

There are over 30 rocky domes that have immense cultural significance to the First Australians and are also a wicked hiking area. Want epic shots of crystal clear waters, colourful reefs and amazing wildlife (including whale sharks?!) – then Ningaloo Reef in Western Australia is for you. Ningaloo might be less famous than some of Australia’s Queensland reefs, but it is no less impressive. Just make sure you respect the reef and the creatures that live there by following the advice of your local leader when swimming or snorkelling.
Swim with the whale sharks at Ningaloo on our 10-day Perth to Broome Overland Adventure.
7. Katherine Gorge, Northern Territory

Katherine Gorge is the most famous of the 13 gorges located in the Northern Territory’s Nitmiluk National Park and she’s a beauty. Whether you’d rather see the sites by foot (there are lots of excellent walking trails), take a scenic flight or hop aboard a canoe or boat and head down Katherine River, there are endless amazing photo opportunities to be had.
Explore the Gorge on our 4-day Kakadu, Katherine, Litchfield Adventure.
8. Bay of Fires, Tasmania

The little southern island of Tasmania is known for its chillier climate, so it may surprise you to learn that one of Australia’s best-looking beaches can be found here. The Bay of Fires combines the classics – aqua waters, white sand, Aussie bushland just metres from the sand, and plenty of local wildlife to keep an eye out for.
